XVth AIECM3 International Congress on Medieval and Modern Mediterranean Ceramics
The 15th AIECM3 International Congress on Ceramics of the Medieval and Modern Mediterranean World, organized by the Department of Art History at the Faculty of Letters, Ege University, will be held in Izmir from November 22–26, 2027, hosted by Ege University. AIECM3 is an association dedicated to supporting research on ceramics in the Medieval and Modern Mediterranean World. The International Congress on Ceramics of the Medieval and Modern Mediterranean World, which will hold its 15th edition in 2027, is held every three years. The congresses organized by the association cover new and original topics as well as significant developments in the field of ceramics. The AIECM3 congress, which will be held in Turkey for the second time, aims to contribute to ceramic studies by focusing on topics related to archaeological excavation finds, techniques, innovative applications, trade, architectural applications, ethnoarchaeology, and reproduction production.
The International Committee has identified the following main themes for the congress to be held in Izmir on February 19, 2026: Archaeological Excavations and Underwater Ceramic Finds, Techniques and Innovative Applications, Ceramic Trade, Cultural and Technological Interactions, Ceramics in Anatolia (Ceramic Finds from the Byzantine Period to the Present), Reflections of Ceramics and Tiles in Architecture, and Ethnoarchaeology with Reproductions or Innovations.
Preparations are underway for the XVth AIECM3 Congress, which will take place in İzmir from 22 to 26 November 2027.
